                                           SBDM Council Regular Meeting

                                                       October 29, 2009

 

I.                   Call to order - (Ondrea Smallwood, Angela Marshall, Donna Napier, Neal Cox, Amy Craddock; Guest, Mark Rodgers) 6:20 pm

II.                Approval of Agenda - Approved with addition of Minutes of Special meeting October 12, 2009 (motion Napier; second Smallwood)

III.             Approval of September minutes – Approved (motion Marshall; second Napier); approved Special meeting minutes (motion Napier; second Neal)

IV.             Council of Councils Report – Smallwood gave discussion, Mr. Davis spoke of wanting Homework Policy in place.

V.                Parent Advisory Meeting Report – Napier did not attend.  Craddock will attend next meeting.

VI.             Good News Report/Public Comments – Coulter gave council members BC packet that was distributed at Board meeting.  Coulter gave overview of percentages noting that BC is doing very well; there were no public comments

VII.          Student Support/YSC/Counseling – Mark Rogers gave report on YSC in Ms. Wiggins absence providing council a handout.  Coulter will request more staff input and involvement; Rodgers  gave guidance office report

VIII.       Student Achievement/Maps Math Lab/PLC Report – Coulter reviewed Maps scores/RIT Range chart (this packet has been given to board; PLC is working, teachers working hard to make it happen

IX.             Review & Approve – Committee Systems, Computer Usage, Credit Make-up, and Dress Code tabled till next month; Instructional Teaching Policy first reading held, Coulter to have second reading at November meeting; Budget Report was approved at special meeting held on October 12th; Grade Policy – Rodgers gave plan of action to incorporate a 5 working day limit for teachers to input grades (technology has greatly improved this); the day the term end grades to be posted by teacher; semester grade should be posted within 2 days; lots of parent complaints; a Policy will be implemented requesting grade books to be done weekly-this is the first reading with second reading to be at November meeting; Safety Plan tabled to next meeting; SIP removed from agenda; Personnel Report – Katie Lee hired for SS position, Math and ECE interviews completed; Homework Policy Task Force will be looked into by Cox, and parent reps Craddock and Napier to look for out of District sample policy; Implementation & Impact Check tabled to next meeting

X.                New Business – Discussion held regarding meeting day and dates, consensus of council to change meeting day to last Monday of the month beginning in November
